Visit our Showrooms

In order to get the most accurate results, the best option is to have your size measured at one of our showrooms in London, Manchester, Berlin or Frankfurt.

Trying on a ring is just like trying on shoes: you need to get the size right. Our team of professional jewellers will have you test a series of different ring sizes to find the most comfortable option for the ring you are looking to purchase.

Measuring your ring size at home

There is much advice online on how to measure your ring size at home. Perhaps you even have heard of methods such as using pieces of string or paper. The reality is these methods are all highly inaccurate and may show completely distorted results, which would be regrettable, especially when planning a surprise proposal.

How do we know this? Simply because we’ve tried and tested them ourselves. At Dazzle Diamonds, we want to give you the most honest advice so you have less to worry about.

Order a ring sizer

As you will be measuring your finger yourself, there is always a risk of inaccuracy. Follow these steps on how to use our ring sizer:

  1. Place the ring sizer on the chosen finger and tighten until it sits comfortably. It shouldn’t be loose enough to turn nor too tight to move. If you feel a slight pinch, loosen the sizer a little.
  2. Check if you can move the ring sizer over your knuckle. There should be a slight pull, but you should still be able to remove it without altering the size.

Remember:

  • Try your measurement three or four times for better accuracy.
  • Fingers swell during the day and are larger towards evening; measure in the evening.
  • Cold weather can make your fingers slightly shrink.
  • If you’re between sizes, opt for the larger size for comfort.

Use a ring you already own

The second do-it-yourself method is to measure a ring that already fits your finger. If the existing ring fits you well, the new one should too, provided your measurement is accurate.

  1. Choose a ring that fits the same finger. Avoid misshapen, ornate or wide bands.
  2. Print the ring size cutout in A4 at 100% scale.
  3. Cut and assemble the cone as indicated (align the arrows).
  4. Slide the ring onto the cone; your size is the first line the ring reaches.
  5. If between two sizes, you can order a half size; for proposals, choose the larger.
  6. Manual methods are guidance only and can be inaccurate if not handled properly.

What if I’m planning a surprise gift or proposal?

Ask a close friend or family member

If you are unsure of a person’s ring size, discreetly inquire with close friends or family for a good indication.

Measure a ring he or she already owns

Use a ring worn on the same finger. For best accuracy, bring it to our showroom to measure without them noticing. If that’s not possible, use the printable cutout above—bearing in mind manual methods can be inaccurate.

Remember:

  • If you don’t know the size, choose “I don’t know” at checkout and we’ll produce a standard size.
  • Typical sizes: Women L–M, Men Q–S.
  • Between two sizes? Choose the larger; downsizing is easier than upsizing.
  • Top-heavy engagement rings can rotate if too loose.

What if I order the wrong ring size?

We offer a free resizing service for up to 30 days after receiving the item.

Our expert craftsmen will return your ring cleaned and polished.

Some rings can’t be resized (e.g., full set diamond eternity rings, milgrain/ornate bands, or certain bespoke/personalised rings).

If a ring cannot be resized, we’ll exchange it within 30 days for a similar style; price differences may apply if the new ring has more stones.

FAQs

What are the average ring sizes for men and women?

The standard ring size for women is L to M, and for men, Q to S.

How tight should a ring be?

It should sit comfortably without pinching. Tight enough not to turn by itself, but able to slide over the knuckle with a little resistance. Consider swelling in warmer weather.

Can you make a ring bigger if the size is wrong?

Yes. We offer a complimentary resize within 30 days and can generally increase up to two sizes. Above that, we’ll arrange an exchange. Some designs cannot be resized.
